How to build a training day around two cans

Two cream-label aluminum cans side by side with kraft tags reading 'before' and 'after', with a small dumbbell and folded gray gym towel at the frame edge.

The whole point of drinking anything before or after training is that it fits into how you actually live. Most stacks fall apart because they have too many moving parts. A scoop here, a capsule there, a shaker to rinse, a powder to remember. Miss one step and the rest starts to feel pointless.

The ReadySet routine is built to be smaller than that. One can before training, one can after. Two cans a day, no additions required, and the daily numbers still work out where they need to.

The morning (or pre-training) can: Energy+

Energy+ is the front half of the routine. Drink it 20 to 40 minutes before you train, or first thing in the morning if training happens later.

What lands in that window:

  • 180mg caffeine from green tea. Onset around 20 to 40 minutes, peak around the 45-minute mark, taper over the next 3 to 5 hours. Natural caffeine tends to land smoother than a synthetic hit at the same dose.
  • 200mg L-theanine. Rides along with the caffeine and turns raw stimulation into steady focus, so you get the lift without the two-hour letdown.
  • 2g creatine (Creabev by Alzchem). Half of your daily maintenance is now in the tank.
  • 1g L-citrulline. Nitric oxide support for pump and blood flow during the session.
  • 300mg beetroot extract. Second-lane support for the same blood flow story.
  • B6, B12. Everyday nervous system and energy metabolism cofactors.

Cold can. Twenty minutes. Walk out the door. That's the pre-training slot handled.

The post-training can: Protein+

Protein+ picks up where Energy+ leaves off. Drink it within the first 30 to 60 minutes after training, when your body is primed to use the incoming protein and the electrolytes are useful.

What lands post-workout:

  • 20g clear whey protein isolate (Actus by Lacprodan). Fast-absorbing, complete amino acid profile, no milk fats or residual milk sugar sitting on top of a workout.
  • 2g creatine. The second half of your daily maintenance dose. Now you're at 4g total, which sits right in the 3 to 5g/day range research uses.
  • 4.5g BCAAs (2:1:1). Layered on top of the isolate for extra leucine on the muscle protein synthesis side.
  • 400mg electrolytes. 200mg sodium, 150mg magnesium, 50mg potassium citrate. Rehydration inputs in citrate forms (better absorption, no phosphate load).
  • 100mg vitamin C. Antioxidant support during the recovery window.
  • 40mg Tart Cherry Extract. Research-supported role in post-training soreness and recovery.

Water-thin, hydrating, drinks like a light sports drink. Doesn't sit heavy the way a chocolate milk does after a hard session in the heat.

Why the two-can math works

Two ReadySet cans a day covers a full maintenance dose of creatine. Studies use 3 to 5g/day; two cans deliver 4g. That's the piece worth pausing on. You don't have to remember a scoop. You don't have to rinse a shaker. You don't have to add anything. The creatine is inside the drink you're already having, at the dose research actually uses.

The rest lines up the same way. Caffeine hits when you need it and taper before bed. L-theanine keeps the caffeine steady. Protein and electrolytes land in the recovery window. Nothing to plan, nothing to skip.

What about non-training days?

On rest days, the routine gets simpler. One Energy+ in the morning for the caffeine, focus, and creatine dose. Skip the Protein+ if you don't need the extra protein, or drink it later in the day if you're chasing a daily total for another reason.

The creatine maintenance doesn't depend on training; muscle stores stay topped off with consistent daily intake, whether you lifted that day or not.

Where the Mixed 4-Pack fits

The Mixed 4-Pack is two cans of Energy+ and two cans of Protein+. If you're new to the routine and want to test the day-of feel without committing to a 12-pack of each, this is the pack designed for that. Two days of the full routine, no extra choices.

Once you know which side of the routine you use more, the 12-packs are the natural step. Some people go all-Energy+ on high-caffeine days and all-Protein+ on rest days. Some run the classic one-and-one. Both work.

The whole design philosophy is that a training routine should be small enough to actually happen. One can before, one can after. The creatine, the caffeine, the L-theanine, the electrolytes, and the recovery inputs all show up inside the drinks you were already going to have. Nothing extra to remember.
