ReadySet Energy+ vs Gorgie, the clean-energy showdown

Aug 18, 20262 min read
Two neutral-labeled cans, one pale sage and one cream with lime accent, with allulose crystals, green tea, and creatine powder in ceramic dishes between them.

Gorgie shows up in the cleaner corners of the energy aisle. Erewhon coolers, boutique gyms, wellness Instagram. It's built around the same instinct as ReadySet Energy+: build a drink you can actually drink, using ingredients you can pronounce.

So this isn't the usual "old drink vs new drink" comparison. Both cans are playing the same game. The differences are in the details, and the details are where the choice actually gets made.

What's in a Gorgie

Gorgie's 12oz can lists a genuinely clean panel:

  • 150mg caffeine from green tea leaf extract.
  • Allulose as the primary sweetener. No sucralose, no aspartame.
  • L-theanine (dose varies by flavor, generally around 100mg).
  • Taurine, biotin, pantothenic acid.
  • B-vitamins (B3, B6, B12).
  • 0g sugar, 5 calories, 0g fat.

Real credit where it's due. Gorgie uses natural caffeine from green tea, sticks to allulose as the sweetener (skipping sucralose entirely), and keeps the ingredient list short and readable. That's a genuinely cleaner formula than most of the aisle.

The 150mg caffeine dose is on the lighter side, which is intentional. Gorgie is positioned for people who want an afternoon lift without the 200mg gut-punch of a Celsius or an Alani Nu. If that's your dose range, it fits.

Where Energy+ goes further

Energy+ shares Gorgie's philosophy but pushes on the doses and adds a few things Gorgie leaves out.

  • 180mg caffeine from green tea. Slightly higher, still in the everyday range.
  • Allulose and monk fruit as sweeteners. Same plant-based path.
  • 200mg L-theanine, printed at its full dose. This is the amount research typically uses for the caffeine pairing to actually land.
  • 2g creatine (Creabev by Alzchem). Every can. Gorgie doesn't include creatine.
  • 1g L-citrulline, 300mg beetroot extract.
  • B6, B12.
  • 0g sugar, 15 calories, 0g fat.

Two differences to call out honestly. Energy+ has 30mg more caffeine and 20 more calories per can. That's the tradeoff for pushing the L-theanine to the studied range and building in a real dose of creatine.

How to think about the choice

Gorgie is a well-built drink. Both cans get the same fundamentals right: green tea caffeine, plant-based sweetener, no proprietary blends, short readable label. On the biggest questions ("is this a clean energy drink") they answer the same way.

The divergence is what each can is trying to do beyond that. Gorgie is a minimalist afternoon drink for a lighter caffeine hit. Energy+ is built for people who want the same clean inputs but with the actives dosed for actual training and recovery: real L-theanine, real creatine, real citrulline for pump, real beetroot for blood flow.

If you're grabbing an energy drink for a mid-day lift, either one is a defensible pick. If you want the same clean can to double as your daily creatine and your pre-workout, that's where Energy+ pulls ahead.

Two ReadySet cans a day covers a full maintenance dose. Studies use 3 to 5g/day; two cans deliver 4g. No extra powder, no capsules, no separate stack.

Both cans hold up to the clean energy drink checklist. That's rare, and worth saying. The right pick depends on whether you want the lightest possible formula or the same clean formula built to do more.
